SAN DIEGO, Dec. 16 (UPI) -- California-based defense computing solutions developer Z Microsystems has been selected to support a military aerial surveillance program with its workstations.

Z Microsystems announced it has received a contract to deliver its ZXL2 ruggedized workstation solution and TranzPak 7 data storage technology to support an undisclosed military surveillance program.

Under the $2 million deal, Z Microsystems' workstation and storage systems will be used to support a military operation identifying improvised explosive devices among other intelligence gathering requirements.

"Z Microsystems has a reputation for providing military computing systems that can withstand harsh environmental conditions," Jack Wade, Z Microsystems chief executive officer, said in a statement.

"This capability will ensure that field commanders have access to important and timely information needed to make critical decisions. We are proud to provide the systems needed to support this project and contribute to its success."
